Our Team

Founder Zia Akbary

My name is Zia Akbary and I am the founder of Fardah Roshan Academy. I was born in Kandahar and went to school there until the Soviet-Afghan war forced the school to close and my family to flee. In the years since coming to America, I have dreamed of an opportunity to help Afghanistan re-build and heal. Fardah Roshan Academy is my way of making that dream a reality. I started Fardah Roshan Academy from my living room during the COVID lockdown—cold calling contacts in Afghanistan through WhatsApp. I am incredibly proud of all that Fardah Roshan has been able to accomplish, but I know there is so much more that needs to be done. One day, Afghanistan will see its bright tomorrow.
